Yanni Concert: A Conversation With Yanni

This past weekend I experience Yanni for the second time. I cannot express the joy that this event has brought me. Not only was I fortunate enough to see Yanni live for the second time, I was also grateful that I brought along the women who introduced me to his music, My mom.
When I was a little girl I was unhappy. Most of the time I was unsure of why my mood would fluctuate but I remembered feeling unhappy for the most past. That all changed when I heard Yanni’s music playing through the speakers of my mom’s radio. It was like I found peace and acceptance in a place I had longed for. I felt love and pure happiness. I feel in love with Yanni’s music because it was the purest thing I had ever heard at such a young age. Yanni’s music healed me over the years, repeatedly. I believe god uses people to touch our souls and communicant his love to us. I believe his music has done this for not only myself but for millions of people around the world.

A Conversation with Yanni.
I first experienced Yanni live in Albany, NY (Yanni: The Dream Concert) over the summer, which was the highlight of my 2016. It was my first concert and it was with the one and only Yanni. Yanni: A Conversation with Yanni was a little different from the first concert. A conversation with Yanni was just that, a conversation with Yanni. Yanni presented his audience with the opportunity to ask him questions about his life and experiences. He also spoke to the audience through his music by playing a piece or two on his piano. I love that I could feel the passion and the love in the room. Everyone gathered in unity to express genuine love for a man and his work. Yanni stated that his purpose for having this conversation is to feel more connected to his audience.
He also played one of his pieces titled “farewell” which he wrote after a bad break up in his early twenties. A pieces he claimed he had never played for an audience before.
Highlights
The highlights of my night were the moment of a 7-year-old boy who studies music spoke to Yanni. He aspires to become a musician someday just like Yanni. He was a bright, young, and a well-spoken boy, more intelligent for his age it seemed. He expressed his love to Yanni and even referred to him as “the greatest pianist of all time”. When Yanni mentioned how smart he thought the young boy was, the boy was moved and brought to tears. Yanni asked him to get on stage and even shared a hug with him. It was one of the rawest moments I have ever witnessed.
My second highlight of the evening was when my mom turned to me and spoke, she said, “if I should die tonight I would be very happy. I got to see Yanni in real life.” Now, maybe this was my mom being dramatic as usual but it was comforting to make one of her dreams come through. I shared the same love I have for Yanni with my mother because just as his music has carried me through hardship, it had also helped her in her own way. He music has carried us through difficult time, joyful experiences and memorable moments.
Regrets
The only regret I had for the evening was not puking up the courage to speak to him. To ask him a questions. I have faith that I will met Yanni again someday. This experience made me realizexplain that I cannot let opportunity pass by. Someday, I will speak to him about how he changed my life and somehow even saved it.
With love,
